The Best Christmas Foods

While Thanksgiving holds the mantle of “Best Holiday Food Options” in most people’s minds, Christmas is no slouch when it comes to satisfying a growling tummy. Whether you have a sweet tooth or a meat tooth, there is always something on offer that will delight your senses. Let’s take a look at some of the best-est, most festive, holiday foods.

Gingerbread Cookies

Where else can you find so much personality and taste? Whether you prefer your gingerbread soft and doughy or hard and crunchy, these bad boys are the perfect thing to get your appetite going.

Smoked Meats

Included in this category: ham, prosciutto, salami, and those tasty little smoked sausage things. If you’re eating all that sugar, you’re gonna want some protein to balance it out. So grab a handful of meat and enjoy!

Eggnog

OK, so this one might be a little controversial. Some people HATE eggnog. And honestly, I get it. It looks and feels like you’re drinking raw liquid egg. But man, that taste. Every year I buy one half-gallon container (for like $13) and quickly realize why we only bust it out once a year.

Nuts

You’re at a party, you’re feeling a little peckish but you know the main dish is at least an hour away. What do you do? Grab a handful of nuts! Cashews, peanuts, walnuts, pecans, Brazil nuts, macadamia… I love it all. Bonus points for any host who buys unshelled nuts. Food plus a little project? Sign me up. It beats having to listen to Uncle Frank.

Spritz Cookies

What is more American than combining our love of sugary sweets and guns? These little guys taste like a vanilla almond dream. They come in a bunch of fun shapes. Plus, did I mention that you pump them out of a gun?

Cheese Plate

Granted, this one isn’t just for Christmas. You can enjoy cheese any time of year. But a well-stocked cheese platter brightens up any holiday gathering.

Chocolate

Hot chocolate. Chocolate-covered cherries. Those chocolate orange things. Chocolate fountains. There are a TON of options.

Alcohol

Last, but not least, it’s our good buddy booze. How else are you supposed to get through the holidays? Irish coffee, mimosas, festive mixed drinks, mulled wine… you name it. Stock up and enjoy the festivities!
