Top Five Spookies

It’s October! That means Spooky Season is officially upon us!

To get into the mood I thought I’d make another Top Five list to celebrate. To be clear, this isn’t about scary or terrifying things. Maybe I’ll do one later. This is a bit tamer. Just SPOOKY stuff. Things that make you feel uncomfortable without being terrified. The kind of things an 8-year-old could handle.

Witches

They live in the forest. They eat children and cast spells. They fly around on brooms. They cackle in the night and dance around fires. Sounds like my kind of ladies.

Ghosts

Not the terrifying ones from movies. The nice friendly ones, like this guy here. He’s even got a balloon! OK, maybe the balloon makes him scarier. But it’s got a smiley face on it. OK, maybe that makes it even worse. Anyway, ghosts are spooky fun!

Black Cats

Did you know that black cats have the lowest rate of adoption at shelters? Super sad. Black cats are awesome! Look at this little guy! Adorable. Truth be told, I spent WAYYY more time looking at photos of black cats than intended. Black cats: spooky, but lovable!

Skeletons

How scary can a skeleton be? I suppose if you were digging a new garden bed and found one that would be pretty scary. But how often does that happen? They’re just bones! Fun, spooky, AND science all in one.

Pumpkins!

I’ve always loved carving pumpkins. I usually roast the seeds afterwards. Nothing says Happy Halloween like a Jack-o-lantern. They’re the epitome of spooky.
